Alabama Coach Search

Bama fans, today you’re going to finally hear what you’ve wanted for so long. I’ve got some great information for you – but it will come at a price. Do you really want to know? Here’s what I can’t tell you: who the next coach will be. Ol’ Richie Rich Rodriguez apparently doesn’t want to line his pockets anymore with a substantial salary. Who could blame him? He’s in a conference where you can easily pile up ten win seasons, why would he want to go get fired after Auburn beats Alabama again and again.

A chap named Clem Gryska, who according to this Yahoo! Article (http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ap-alabama-coach&prov=ap&type=lgns) was a “former Bryant assistant” was quoted as saying, “Its not that tough – all you have to do is win.” If only the former Tide coaches could have received this wisdom sooner! Anyways, from some of my inside sources I received this promotional brochure, apparently from the U of A…

I don’t know why Mal Moore slipped in that shot of the tiger, but you have to give him some respect, at least he is honest. You never know, next year it could be a Mississippi State Bulldog.

What’s that? You want to know about the announcement I had, ah yes… well I’m getting there, you see. The other day I was browsing facebook, which by the way now that I’m on this topic, if you don’t know what facebook is by now, or you are over 25, you probably shouldn’t be on facebook. I’m not exactly one of those “facebook should be for college only”people, but honestly you’re just going to look weird as a 35-year-old accountant befriending 19-year-old college females. It just isn’t right. So yes, now I think I am going to contradict myself and say facebook should only be for college people. So anyways, I was browsing this facebook and I noticed a group created by and for Alabama fans – “People Tired of Hearing that Bama Fans "Live off the Bear"”

Here is the actual, unedited text of the group description (emphasis added):
“THIS GROUP IS FOR:

People who are tired of hearing this over and over.

People who don't care about the past and just worry about the future.

People who have NEVER brought up the Bear in a conversation with an opposing fan (because the number is OVERWHELMING).

People who know, understand, realize, and readily acknowledge that the Bear is DEAD and GONE and that he will not resurrect, reincarnate, or inhabit someone with his spirit.

People who respect the Bear, but do not thrive off of his tenure at the University.

People who geniunely DON'T "live off the Bear".

People who are proud of the past, but do not live in it.

If this is you and you are tired of the same old crap, then this group is for you.”

I think it’s funny that whoever created this group wrote down that Bama fans have to worry about the future. That kind of says something about the state of affairs over there. My dad once scolded me because I was a bit disappointed in Auburn’s performance this season. We lost bad to Arkansas, which I think was legitimate and then we lost pathetically to Georgia, which was due to our own mistakes. We ended the season 10-2 and I still felt like we had missed something. But he reminded me that Auburn usually is never this good on a consistent basis. The last four years in Auburn football have been the winningest in Auburn history. Bama fans are on the defensive and have absolutely nothing to say. Yanks and westerners alike are finally starting to figure out that Auburn is a real superpower, much less the fact that it’s located in Alabama, not Georgia. Are these last four seasons the beginning of the golden years for Auburn football? One can only hope. But anyways, I know you’re dying to know what my announcement is. This article was for bammers anyways! Well here you go… straight out of the Birmingham news.

KEEP THE HOPE ALIVE!
