We can all agree that this weekend was a great disappointment for all of us. Sometimes it just seems like fate is laughing in our face and everything that is good and decent is slowly being overcome by evil. I am slowly losing faith in this world and everyone in it. Some people take bad news better than others, but this weekend may have pushed me too far. I’ll be honest with you, I don’t know how to make a positive spin out of this. We are in serious trouble. I think this goes without saying, but I don’t think I’m speaking for myself when I tell you that Beverly Hills Chihuahua being the #1 movie in America is a sign that it's time for change.

Now I know that everyone is a upset about the Beverly Hills Chihuahua grossing so much money, because this will undoubtedly lead to more terrible movies being made. Although I know many of you reading this are concerned about the downfall of modern cinema, I’d like to focus a little bit on college football. Sorry if I’ve mislead you, but this is not an article about Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Auburn men and women, it’s time that we take a step back and look at ourselves in the mirror. At first glance, you may just see an incredibly attractive person in the reflection (we’re all gorgeous, no big deal), but deep inside all that beauty lies an Auburn fan. It’s time we started acting like it. We should not have to delete half of the comments posted on our blog section. Start supporting your players and coaches. If you saw the same game I did on Saturday, you saw an offense that played with absolutely no confidence, I wonder why they don’t believe in themselves? Do your part and support the team. Lecture over.

From what I’ve gathered over the past few weeks, what’s almost as important as solving the problem, is finding out who’s fault it is. Right? Right? Who is to blame for Auburn’s poor performance? I’ve seen fingers pointed at the coaches, the quarterbacks, the O-Line, the receivers, and yes, even the bloggers. “Hey Ryan, what happened on Saturday? You’re really slipping up, man.” I think it is completely unfair to blame me for our loss on Saturday. I’ll admit, I’ve been busy and haven’t been making fun of Bammers as much as I should, but I don’t think that my lack of internet participation is the source of our problem. The blame rests on none of the aforementioned sources. We shouldn’t be yelling at our players and coaches who care more about the program than we ever will, we should be yelling at the real problem: Lee Corso. He’s totally just screwing with us now.

There is not enough talk about Auburn’s defense. How awesome is Tray Blackmon’s arm cast? It’s like removing his hand and replacing it with a baseball bat. That’s not even fair to give him a club out there. That’s like giving a shark a gun. The only reason any team has scored on us this year is because we knock out their starting quarterback and the backup quarterbacks play style screws up our gameplan. As said by Mark via text message on Saturday: “We gotta stop injuring the starting QBs.” With our defense, that is a task much easier said than done. That’s a pretty sweet problem to have. I was actually surprised to find that Auburn was still ranked (#20!) in the AP poll this morning, but it is warranted because with our defense, there is no team we can’t beat.

Even though the offense looks pretty inept right now, there is obvious potential in it and I’m looking forward to when it comes around. And it WILL come around, be patient. Over half our drives are stopped due to penalties and 3rd and (very) long situations. We cut those down, we’ll start getting more first downs, and longer drives and so on. This is a good offense, we are just really, REALLY sloppy with it right now. 101st in the nation in penalties sloppy. Give it some time, Auburn isn’t the exception to learning curves with brand new offenses and two new coordinators… well our defense is the exception. Have faith, Tuberville knows what he’s doing.

So what to do now? I say we start taking chances and start letting our players show what they got. We’ve been playing too conservative, shying away from downfield passes. Our defense is good enough that we shouldn’t have to run the ball 12 plays in a row. I would like to see a more aggressive Auburn offense and run the risk of striking out a couple of times in order to hit more home runs. Why not? Let’s put a quick end to Auburn’s most recent catchphrase: “A win is a win.” War Eagle!
