I can’t wait anymore. I’ve been staring at recruiting
news all day, starved for football. And my Cowboys are looking terrible
against the Eagles (I blame Jessica Simpson!) so I’ll spend
my Sunday discussing my thoughts on our recruiting situation, even
though I’m jumping the gun by about a month and a half.
So
far, we’re doing ‘aight’ in recruiting, mostly
because Tubs has been focusing more on renovating our offense and
preparing for the bowl. Alabama on the other hand, is doing stellar.
Not only do they have a lot of recruits, but they have a lot of
GOOD recruits. Time to worry? Goodness no. That’s the way
Alabama works: they focus on recruiting first and winning second.
According to al.com, Saban is taking light camp-style practices
in order to focus more on recruiting, meanwhile Auburn is having
extended practices to get ready for their bowl game. Bammers can
send all their “Sounds like a bunch of excuses to me!”
emails to the link at the bottom, and I’ll reply “We
just beat you for the sixth time in a row with a bunch of freshmen
and sophomores.” (I hate the way ‘sophomore’ is
spelled by the way). Let’s discuss recruiting:
Here
is the list of our best recruits so far, so talk about these guys
to your friends to sound important and snooty:
DT
Charles Deas
This guy is a dominant man-beast. We stole him from LSU, whom he
originally signed with in 2006. I don’t think it will even
be fair to have him alongside Sen’Derrick Marks, and Antonio
Coleman. Our D-Line will be even better next year than it was this
year, despite losing Q, the destroyer of Crimson.
DE
Raven Gray
Why do we hate offenses so much that we would get another five-star
recruit added on top of our already dominant D-Line? Adding Raven
Gray, whom on top of having a reputation for being a black hole
for the running game, has a ridiculously awesome name. Quote the
Raven: “Bama will pay.”
RB
Enrique Davis
Another 4/5 star runningback looking to make a name for himself
by ripping defenses to shreds in front of a hundred thousand fans
(rounded up a little there). He’ll play for the Browns in
a few years (I’ll refer back to this article when it happens…
should I still have no life and write for a website then too).
S
T’Sharvan Bell
We could use this guy anywhere on offense or defense, but chances
are we’ll just stick in as a safety or at corner. The guy
is an interception machine, and we may be able to use him some on
offense as a receiver. But he’ll get just as many catches
on defense the way this guy follows the ball.
WR
Harry Adams
The best receiver we have so far, he is a bullet. Having this guy
on the field will have defenses giving a lot of cushion underneath
on him just to have a chance to keep up if he goes deep. The guy
ran track and got a 10.2 on the 100. He’s one of the fastest
18 year olds on the planet.
WR
Jarmon Fortson
Another good receiver, ranked in the top 30 receivers in the nation.
He’s a big receiver at 6-2, 222 lbs, and would offer an Anthony
Mix-type contribution to the team, a blend of tight end and receiver.
